This Season Has Gone to the Dogs
It’s been another brutal year for long-suffering Detroit Lions fans. The pro football team – and I use the word “pro” very loosely – currently boasts a record of 1-8 with no division wins to their credit. Even if they were to pull off a miraculous turnaround and win the remainder of their games this season, the postseason is already out of reach. It’s now just a matter of staying competitive and saving face in the weeks ahead.
Despite the Lions’ losing ways, I tune in faithfully each week with my dog Grover perched at attention on the footstool. I bought him some NFL dog clothes to get him in the spirit of my favorite Sunday afternoon pastime. My wife likes to joke that Grover is a better receiver than any the Lions drafted in the last decade. Judging by the way he can catch a Frisbee in his mouth, I’m tempted to agree.
