Puddle Hopping with My Dog!
Whenever I go outdoors with my little dog Sadie, I make sure to bring her rain coat. During the autumn months where I live, there tends to be a lot of sudden showers. Sadie and I love to go over to the soccer fields and throw the Frisbee, but we often head home if it starts raining. As luck would have it, I found a site that sells dog raincoats online, so I decided to invest in one.
With her dog raincoat, Sadie and I can stay out as long as we like, although once her paws start to turn black with mud we head home. Sadie’s raincoat is also great for the beach, where it keeps her fur protected from all the salt spray (I don’t let her go in the water).
Dog Dress Up
Dogs are like dolls. They look so cute and adorable when they get dressed up for special occasions or just a day out. It’s great that you can even tell a dog’s gender by what it is wearing. A frilly dog dress for a female and a macho denim or black jacket for a male lets everyone know what sex he or she is.
It used to be that dog clothing was severely limited, but in recent years there has been a rash of new and chic canine styles. Even known designers are joining the bandwagon. There has been an increased demand for dog apparel as more and more pet owners dress up their dogs, especially when outdoors.
UV Protection for Active Pups
Just as it’s important for people to shield their eyes from the sun’s harmful rays, the sun too can damage dog’s eyes. While dog sunglasses can be a little impractical unless your pup is lying still, dog baseball caps work great to provide shade to a dog’s eyes. Dog hats are designed with special holes through which their ears can fit, and provide a visor that shields the dog’s eyes from the sun. Dog hats are excellent for walks, running, and all kinds of outdoor exercise. They’re also great for environments like the beach or a snowy mountaintop where the sun can reflect off the surface and at times seem blinding.
You can find a dog hat to fit your pup at most any store that also sells dog clothing. Dog hats are designed for small, medium, and large dogs so there’s no reason to think you can’t find the perfect fit. You’ll also find a wide variety of different styles in dog hats, so you can choose the one that suits you or your dog best!
Love Dogs More Than Humans
We love dogs; that is just the way it is. We love them almost as if they are humans. Nowadays, that love and treatment have gone one level up. We now dress them. Especially during cold weather, we use a dog sweater to make our dog feel warm and safe. A dog sweater may be made of different materials.
The most common fabric used for dog sweaters is wool, but cotton is also popular. The designs are endless. It can be very simple. But there are also those that border on the ridiculous, depending on the owner’s mood. These are mostly used for shows, as dog shows have become widely accepted.
Keeping a Dog’s Coat Warm
Just because your dog has a natural coat, doesn’t mean he’s always warm. Cold, wind, and inclement weather can affect dogs the same way they affect humans. And when your dog is uncomfortable, he’s unhappy. A dog jacket will keep the chills out, protect him from the elements and still allow the full range of motion necessary to run and move around naturally. Dog coats can be comfortable; your dog will quickly forget he’s even wearing one. He’ll just know he feels great.
A fleece dog coat isn’t simply a fun accessory. It provides warmth, protects from the elements, and above all, keeps your dog warm and comfortable. You wouldn’t head out on a cold day without your coat – make sure your dog is properly attired as well.
Getting the Best Christmas Card Ever
A lot of families have yearly traditions, and they almost always seem to come out during the holiday season. Even though it’s many months away from the holidays, it’s never too early to prepare for your next Christmas card shot. Getting the perfect shot of everyone in the family can be more than a little difficult, especially as your children get older and they become increasingly opposed to these kinds of family events.
But even if you manage to corral all your teenagers and even convince them to smile a little bit, there still might be one family member that’s a little lacking in the picture. That family member is the family dog. While many families think to add the dog in the shot, not as many people think to dress him appropriately for the holidays. As such, make sure that you purchase some dog hats now (while they’re cheap) to put your dog in the holiday look. This can be everything from a reindeer cap to a Santa hat. Just make sure it’s specifically a dog hat, so there will be holes to accommodate your dog’s ears.
Protect Your Pup’s Peepers
Any person who spends time outdoors knows of sunscreen can prevent painful burns and deadly skin cancer. Those who are exposed to dangerous UV rays are also risking eye damage. High levels of UV radiation exposure to the eyes can also cause vision loss, cataracts, skin cancer of the eyelids, and macular degeneration.
Eye damage resulting from the sun can be thwarted by wearing a wide-brimmed hat, visor or sunglasses. When purchasing protective eye wear, one should make sure the packaging is clearly labeled 99 to 100 % absorption of both UVB and UVA rays.
People aren’t the only ones to suffer eye damage from the sun. Dogs can also experience eye-related problems from exposure. Fortunately modern technology has made dog sun visor possible. Protecting your pup’s peepers will benefit you as well as your dog. Expensive veterinarian bills resulting from macular disease can be avoided by investing in dog visor.
Functional Clothing for an Active Dog
While my mother is constantly buying cutesy clothes for her pet Shih Tzu Daisy, I have managed to avoid doing the same for Ben, my prized golden retriever. That’s not to say that I haven’t scanned the Internet for functional dog clothing, however. Living in Seattle, I’ve become accustomed to wearing my rain slicker on most days in fall and winter. Now that I bought him a dog rain coat, Ben has the same luxury.
The Velcro closures keep him wrapped warm and snug in the raincoat, and our rain-resistant clothing allows us to enjoy long walks the same way we would in summer. Whether we’re splashing through deep puddles or dashing through a downpour, we both stay dry. Best of all, when Ben reenters the house he isn’t tempted to shake off all the excess water on his fur. It saves me a lot of cleanup and hassle.
This Season Has Gone to the Dogs
It’s been another brutal year for long-suffering Detroit Lions fans. The pro football team – and I use the word “pro” very loosely – currently boasts a record of 1-8 with no division wins to their credit. Even if they were to pull off a miraculous turnaround and win the remainder of their games this season, the postseason is already out of reach. It’s now just a matter of staying competitive and saving face in the weeks ahead.
Despite the Lions’ losing ways, I tune in faithfully each week with my dog Grover perched at attention on the footstool. I bought him some NFL dog clothes to get him in the spirit of my favorite Sunday afternoon pastime. My wife likes to joke that Grover is a better receiver than any the Lions drafted in the last decade. Judging by the way he can catch a Frisbee in his mouth, I’m tempted to agree.
